These places mean so much to so many people. When a
cluster of Lutherans got together on a snowy midwinter
night back in the 1940's to dream about developing a
place set apart for nurturing Christian faith they
prayed that they could create a ministry that would
impact thousands of people. It has...with God's help!
Since the 1940's, Crossways (in several different forms)
has provided an extraordinary place of study, activity,
fun, and retreat for youth, adults and families.
Crossways is much more than a building, a camp, a cabin,
or a house. Crossways strives to provide holy
places, where God interacts with His people and promise.
Over the years, the camps have continued to expand to
serve youth, families and communities. Today, Crossways
Camping Ministries operates camping and retreat
facilities in Waupaca, Clintonville, Hatley, and
Milwaukee Wisconsin.
In addition to
summer camps, Crossways offers retreating opportunities
for the other nine months of the year including
sponsored youth retreats, men’s retreats, women's
retreats, youth worker, and church worker training
events, and family weekends amongst other retreat
opportunities. Crossways' facilities are open
year-round to groups for weekend, mid-week and week-long
camps, conferences and retreats.
Crossways Camping Ministries is an
association of Lutheran congregations throughout the
state of Wisconsin for the purpose of ministering to
people of all ages in ways congregations can’t do
individually. Currently, there are approximately 180
congregations who relate to Crossways in some way,
either through use of the camp’s facilities and
programs, financially, or both.
Crossways and congregations are in partnership to bring
people together in the name of Christ so that individual
lives may be positively impacted, grow in faith and
Christian service, and so that communities of faith
might be strengthened for service wherever God has
placed them.
