Waypost on Mission Lake is proudly
the oldest of the camping sites owned by Crossways.
The camp is located between Bevent and Elderon about
30 minutes SE of Wausau, WI. Its rich history can be
traced back to 1942 when the Evangelical Lutheran
Church purchased the old "Crooked Lake Dance Hall
and Resort" to create a Lutheran camp. The name of
the lake was changed to "Mission Lake," deemed to be
a more appropriate designation for use by the
church. The land is rich in history and abundant in
natural beauty and resources, with over a mile and a
half of natural shoreline.
We invite you to experience Waypost just
once, because we know you will make it a point to return
again and again. Waypost is the perfect setting for
youth group retreats because there is so much indoor and
outdoor space available for your use. It is great for
adult and family groups who seek a quiet natural setting
and facilities that are clean, comfortable, and
dedicated just to your group. Once you see a sunset over
Mission Lake, the image will be burned into your memory
forever!
Waypost on Mission Lake provides
high quality meeting and lodging facilities in a
rustic setting. The camp owns over 1 1/2 miles of
lake shore and has long stretches of hiking trails
available to guests. The camp facilities include a
number of newly decorated cabins on a hill
overlooking the lake and also boasts a large dining
hall known as the Waypost Center. This facility,
capable of serving 30 overnight and 80 for day
meetings, also serves as a retreat center in the
fall, winter, and spring.
