Seasonal Weekend Programs:

    Get-a-way!
  Weekend

Join us for the 7th Annual "Workers in Paradise" Workshop!

Monday September 24-Tuesday September 25, 2007
(including relaxing overnight program)
Pine Lake Camp, Waupaca

All Aboard!

For those who work as office staff in a congregation, there are issues and concerns you face that your friends in the commercial environment don’t.  It’s just like working in ‘paradise’, right?

This is an event planned for:

  • Parish Secretaries
  • Administrative Assistants
  • Business Administrators
  • Full-time Parish Office Workers
  • Part-time Parish Office Workers
  • Paid Parish Office Staff
  • Anyone who serves the church as an office worker

This workshop is for YOU, parish office workers:  to strengthen your gifts for service, to share in a day of fun and learning, to meet some of those who, like you, deal with the stresses, the expectations and demands of just about everyone, the confidentiality of information with which you come into contact, the complaints, the things you’re supposed to know that no one tells you, etc.

Guest Speakers from the ELCA

How to Get Noticed in Your Community: Claiming Your Identity as an ELCA Congregation
Ben McDonald Coltvet, ELCA Associate Director for Interpretation and Planning.  This workshop will cover tips on effective communication to those outside your congregation—neighbors, media, and others.  Ben invites you to bring examples of your newsletters, flyers, advertising, and other communication tools.

Parochial Reports and how to love them!
Deborah Myers, Director for Official Rosters and Statistics, in the Office of the Secretary of the ELCA will explain why Parochial Reports are so important and answer your questions.

Let your Churchwide Staff Work for You
Mim Woolbert, ELCA Associate Director for Interactive Media and Networks will show you all the possibilities of what you can find on the ELCA Web site.
