The Chapel
at Pine Lake Camp
For generations, campers have gathered in this space to create community and engage in worship. Campers experience the presence of God - sometimes for the very first time under these log rafters. We use this space to engage senses, lift campers up as worship leaders, and use creative worship elements alongside traditional and familiar experiences that work together to strengthen the relationship between camp and congregation. We celebrate the last 70 years of ministry this Chapel has held and look forward to what is to come.
VERTICAL SUPPORTS AND LOWER SIDING
Excessive rot to the vertical support logs caused by snow, moisture, and age has compromised the structural integrity of the building. Logs that can be saved will be lifted off the cement foundation by a barrier, and deteriorated logs will be replaced. A section of horizontal log siding will also be replaced around the building.
$25,000
LOG STEEPLE AND FRONT ENTRY
The log steeple in the front of the Chapel shows the worst wear from both rot and pest damage, and will need to be replaced completely. Replacement logs will be cedar to withstand climate conditions.
$35,000
GLASS BLASTING AND RESTAINING
After the repairs are made, the Chapel will be glass blasted to prepare the building, then given a new coat of stain.
$20,000
Project Total: $80,000
Donations that exceed the costs for this project will be applied to other capital projects at Pine Lake Camp

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE DAMAGE
VERTICAL SUPPORTS
AND LOWER SIDING
With the state of the logs, select portions can currently be salvaged, but delaying the work has the potential to drastically multiply the work needed both in scale of work and financially.
LOG STEEPLE
AND FRONT ENTRY
We will recreate the front log steeple as close as possible to the original. The cluster of logs now poses a dangerous risk of falling with the potential of causing real harm.
GLASS BLASTING
AND RESTAINING
Glass blasting is a process of evenly sanding the building exterior to prime it for new stain. The Chapel was last stained before 2010. The coverage and care provided by a professional paint team will fortify the exterior for years.
