Who is invited to attend this Inclusive Community Winter Retreat?
We are inviting camp participants, ages 18-40 with and without disabilities, to come together as an inclusive faith community and engage in an active, community focused, faith-enriching weekend experience. Participants will be staying in our beautiful Evergreen retreat center which accommodates guests in 1-2 person bedrooms with in-room bathrooms or jack-and-jill bathrooms for every 2 rooms. Natural supports from this Inclusive community will be in place. Camp participants who may need a higher level of care or support are encouraged to invite a peer support partner/provider to register and attend with them. Camp participants should be prepared to participate in an active camp program with breaks and meals provided.
Our facilities are modern and welcoming. This event will be held in our Evergreen Retreat Center with 12 double bedrooms and in-room or semi-private (shared with one other room) full bathrooms. This building is two levels with one full flight of stairs. Bed and bath linens are provided. Bedrooms will be assigned based on accessibility needs and one roommate request per participant. Program facilities offer alternative spaces to gather and participate in activities. Please contact Robyn Koehler (email@example.com) with additional questions.
Pine Lake Camp will provide programming, community building, hospitality and natural supports. Pine Lake Camp Staff do not provide personal cares or do lift assists for guests. Pine Lake Camp Staff will be able to assist with verbal cues and reminders.
Our kitchen staff delight in cooking nutritious, varied meals for all participants while also providing an alternative for each meal, including a salad bar. Staff are trained to prepare for and manage a variety of dietary needs. Please contact Ben Koehler (firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss specific dietary restrictions or concerns.
Our programming is rooted in the open and welcoming theology of the ELCA Lutheran Church. Many participants attend from different faith traditions or no tradition at all. All are welcome no matter their faith affiliation. Our staff are trained to facilitate open conversation.
In order to build the intentional community of this program, we ask that participants remain on site throughout the full program. Please make arrangements in advance if there is a need to leave the site.
Crossways Camping Ministries respects the rights and dignity of every participant, volunteer, and staff member. We create a place of acceptance and belonging for people of different backgrounds and abilities, and promote a community of equals, where every member is respected.
